Sound Habitat is a twenty-four hour ambient work written to accompany the listener for the duration of an entire day spent indoors.
It was composed and recorded in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, during the artist's own sheltering-in-place, with the intent of helping enrich and make bearable this uneasy isolation.
Throughout its diurnal cycle, Sound Habitat oscillates between moments of near inaudibility and more structured, rhythmic, and conventionally “musical” movements. Its sections correspond to the changing energies and tones of the day, from a rising harmony in the early morning hours through to a soft noisescape at night to help you sleep.
In addition to a month-long stream that played 24 hours a day from October 1st to November 1st, 2020, Sound Habitat is also available as a short-run physical release, as well as for digital download;both are available here

This project was supported by a Canada Council for the Arts "Digital Originals" grant.
